The supermoon over the Story Bridge

Have you ever wanted to do something and then it turns out different but you like the outcome? You got the chicken parmi instead of the steak and the parmi was good?

Well, this was me when I went to capture the supermoon and the story bridge here in Brisbane.

I had a clear picture in my mind of what I wanted. An oversized moon shining brightly behind the Story Bridge.

I turned up early, worked out where I should stand to get the photo that is in my mind. Then I change my mind because it is absolute bedlam on the boardwalk with people running and bike riders screaming past. All trying to get home as quick as possible after work. And here I am with a tripod in the middle of their way creating an obstacle.

The lights on the Story Bridge just starting to come into their own.

I move to a safe spot and start to take some photos. Some nice shots of the bridge with the lights just starting to be seen as the sun goes down. The bridge is looking good in this light and the sky is cloudless. There are people doing the sunset bridge climb that would be getting a great view.

It is not long though until the clouds come over and the odds of getting the shot I want are lengthening. I persist on taking photos in the hope that the moon is going to break through the clouds at some point. And as luck would have it the moon did come out to play for a little bit.

As quick as the supermoon came out to play it disappeared. I hung around for a bit to again see if the moon would pop out and say hi. No luck this time. The clouds were thick.

In the end I have four photos from this ‘adventure’. Two are what I thought I would take on the night. Three are edited in photoshop (still working on this skill). And one is the parmi - well I think anyway, I am still not sure if it was better than the steak. Let me know if you have worked out which photos are which.
